Sandvik Breaks Ground on $51M Mining Equipment Facility in Saskatoon

03/20/2026

On February 23, 2026, Sandvik officially broke ground on a major $51 million CAD investment in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The new 51,000 square foot facility will serve as a key hub for mechanical cutting technology, component manufacturing, repair, overhaul (MRO), and comprehensive aftermarket services tailored to the Western Canadian mining sector.

This state-of-the-art plant is designed to support underground and surface mining operations extracting potash, uranium, gold, and copper. It will include advanced repair bays, testing equipment, and dedicated service teams to deliver faster turnaround times on critical component repairs and predictive maintenance solutions. The project is expected to be fully operational by late 2026 and will create approximately 30 new skilled jobs in areas such as assembly, field service, and technical support.

For mining companies in remote regions, this expansion means improved local access to high-quality MRO services, helping reduce unplanned downtime — a major cost driver in the industry. Sandvik’s focus on electrification and digital monitoring aligns with the sector’s push toward sustainable and efficient operations.

As a Canadian Indigenous-owned company with over 25 years of underground mining experience, AE-PL Mechanical Services complements these developments by offering flexible on-site mechanical support, hydraulic repairs, preventive maintenance programs, and Red Seal certified technicians ready to keep your fleet running reliably and safely.
